Dear Church Family,
Greetings from your church staff. Taking everything to the Lord in prayer, we continue to monitor the ever-changing pandemic landscape, trusting our local experts for wisdom and insight. We pray with you in mind, for God to lead us in what’s best for Colonial Hills Baptist Church. We love our church and continue to trust God’s direction. He is faithful!
Following the God-led journeys of Abraham, Moses, David, Paul, John, and especially Jesus—we are faced with the same struggles of moving forward while being flexible and holding loosely to our plans and expectations. The grace-filled flexibility you have already shown (even when disappointed) has been a blessing to your staff and ministry leaders! We are thankful for you and praise God!
That said, we have some changes to announce as we move forward:
- New July worship service times with open church nursery during Contemporary Service
- Online Sunday School Continues
- New Phase 2 On-Campus Sunday School opening rescheduled
- New Campus Safety Guidelines

ONLINE SUNDAY SCHOOL CONTINUES
- All classes meet online, Sunday Mornings, time is at class discretion. Let church office know when your class meets so guests can be introduced and welcomed appropriately.
PHASE 2 ON-CAMPUS SUNDAY SCHOOL OPENING RESCHEDULED
The opening of Sunday School for all ages will be moved until later in the summer, hopefully before Labor Day.
Sunday School aligns with the New Worship Schedule:
- 8:00 am— All classes originally scheduled for Sunday. (9:15am Worship)
- 9:45 am— All classes originally scheduled for Saturday night. (11:00am Worship)
- All classes will meet in their assigned Phase 2 rooms.
Children and Youth Sunday School will open along with the adult classes!
Sunday School rooms are upgraded with Online Conferencing technology for incredible outreach potential.
NEW CAMPUS SAFETY GUIDELINES
Access to the CHBC Facilities will be restricted in both room availability and distancing requirements for seating set ups. Only the rooms used as Sunday School classes will be available for weekday meetings. All Doors will continue to remain locked. Weekday entrances will be the two Office Doors (CHBC and KACS) from the rear parking lot of church
MINISTRY PLANS AND SCHEDULING
All scheduled and approved meetings and activities are subject to being rescheduled with very little notice. Ministry is the core of what CHBC is and as much as we can, every effort will be made to further ministry goals.
MASKS REQUIRED ON CAMPUS UNLESS SEATED
Remember, we wear masks to demonstrate we are considering and ministering to those around us.
Worshipping members and guests (over the age of 10) will be asked to wear masks anytime not seated either in the Worship Center or in Sunday School rooms.
Visitors will likewise be asked to wear masks when entering the building and anytime social distancing is not possible or likely.
Those working directly in the nursery do not need masks inside the nursery area.
Kings Academy Christian School employees and students will follow the educational guidelines set forth by accredited authorities. All KACS visitors will be asked to wear a mask.
ALL SURFACES WILL BE SANITIZED FOR LOW/NO CONTACT WORSHIP
The custodial crew will be diligent in keeping all surfaces clean and sanitized. During Phase 2, Sunday School members may also be asked to sanitize their Sunday School areas upon leaving.
WITH SINCERE RESPECT TO ALL OUR MEMBERS
We sincerely regret any inconvenience this immediate change of plans may create any group, and for those of you who have invested time and energy for those groups. However, these decisions are bathed in prayer and based on information gathered from experts and longtime, local ministries (not social media hype or limited news sources). The overriding concern we have is for the health and safety of all of our CHBC members and families. We confidently believe that these are the responsible options at this time.
We will continue to monitor the development of current events and concerns, both in the community and within our immediate ministry areas, throughout the remainder of the summer. But there is so much more…
Church family, we have a choice in this moment,
we can wait for positive news to come…or we can BE the positive news now!
So, what is next? See yourself as a crucial part of God’s work through being a part of Colonial Hills. Take notice of the souls that God has put around you! Look for new ways to minister and share the gospel. Be on the alert for those moments where a special word of encouragement can make every difference in a day. Look beyond the masks and the distancing and become sensitive to the God-called opportunities for ministry. God works through His church and you are an important part of the Kingdom work through a church called Colonial Hills. The church starts with you and your home.
Let this letter be your invitation to the call of triumph in the Spirit. This is not the loss of everything pre-Covid, perhaps this is the beginning of a new revival in the church!
The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
