Colonial Hills, Welcome to 2020!

Church Family, this is going to be a great year!

How do I know? Because God put us together to move through whatever 2020 has in store. We are a family bound by faith in Jesus. That means we don’t just go to the same church or sit in the same rooms; we live life side by side, in good times and in hard times.

God. Put. Us. Together. In. Him.

This means something.

The culture of Colonial Hills is created by Jesus, in Jesus, and for Jesus. It is formed in how we worship sovereign Jesus (Matthew 28:18). It is shaped by our trust that through our union with Jesus, we are made new creatures (Romans 6:5). Our passionate, unapologetic proclamation that Jesus is better than everything this universe has to offer (Romans 10:14) is the good news. Our sovereign God is the culture maker who brings us together and moves us in one direction.

Family, look at what God is still doing. The staff, the Deacon body, the Ministry Team Council are working tirelessly to reflect what God is creating in our church. Be on the lookout for updates and announcements and actively look for ways you can be involved. What is your heart cry? Tell us, and we can connect you with others who have the same spirit. New Ministry teams need your voice. Classes need to hear your passion for Christ. Consider this your invitation! Colonial Hills is genuinely better when YOU are involved and locked arm in arm with others.

As a church, we have had a lot of conversations about plans, strategies, and goals that reflect our culture. It is a given that God is not required to respond to any construct we put forth. So why go through all the time and efforts to make plans? Plans are similar to prayers; they direct our eyes forward and prepare us to respond to God. Did you see the paradigm shift? Plans are not for God; they are for us! Paul uses the analogy of a runner in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25:

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.  Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last,

but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

The runner is already in a starting position, warmed up, and in prime running condition, just waiting for the sound of the gun. Do we know the details of the race or it's outcome? No, but He makes us ready, and in Him, we are prepared to finish!

You are part of the culture of Colonial Hills, and God put you here for His purpose (Eph 2:10). This year will is filled with bold and daring opportunities for you to be a part of God-called ministries across the street and the globe! Sure, it might mean sacrifice, but what God has in store for Colonial Hills in 2020 is absolutely worth it!

Blessings!
